Now Carling Leaves Me Cold...

As a long time fan of all things Carling (well, except for the beer itself, obviously), I've bored just about everyone I know in talking up the fabulous 'You know who your mates are' campaign, with its superb arctic exploration and space exploration executions. The premise of each film is both immediate and funny; the casting is excellent, scripts are tight, and the matey, blokiness of the scenarios must make these commercials a firm favourite with the youthful target audience. And of course, it was always the agency's intention to keep these characters together, building their recognition, together with the brand, allowing them to keep knocking out top notch spots like these forever and a day. So I asked myself what campaign I should write about in the first ever Copyworks blog. Should I take one that I love and praise it to the skies? Or should I give a good kicking to something I dislike very much? Either option would make a lot of sense, but instead, I have chosen to take a campaign I like very much indeed, and slag it off for all the flaws beneath its outwardly pretty carapace.
